The village of Clunes is famous for its bookshops. From the collectables to the bargains, from the small shops to the large shops stocking thousands of titles.
In April 2012 Clunes gained International Organisation of Booktowns membership, becoming the 15th international booktown and the only booktown in the southern hemisphere.
Clunes is located 36 km north of Ballarat (30 minutes by car), and 142 km north-west of Melbourne (90 minutes by car).

Sportal: Finding Your Way into Sports Writing
Saturday 6 September, 11am-5pm & Sunday 7 September, 10am-1pm. Writing workshop presented by Phillip Taylor, a Melbourne-born writer and long-time fan of Hawthorn Football Club. His new book is High on Hawthorn: The Road to the 2013 Premiership.
You don’t need to be a retired sportsperson or spill change-room secrets to capture the drama and intrigue of the contest. Explore writing across a range of sports and genres, and discover how personal perspective or broader context can help give your readers a ringside seat. This event is presented by Writers Victoria.
