2016 Clunes Booktown Festival – Saturday 30 April & Sunday 1 May

Clunes Booktown

저희 웹 사이트에 오신 것을 환영합니다.

The charming Goldfields village of Clunes is famous for its range of bookshops, set in a heritage rich landscape. From the collectables to the bargains, from the small shops to the large shops stocking thousands of titles, we offer it all. Clunes is located 36 km north of Ballarat (30 minutes by car), and 142 km north-west of Melbourne (90 minutes by car). It is a member of the International Organisations of Booktowns.

The 10th Anniversary 2016 Clunes Booktown Festival, themed ‘Journeys through time and place’, will be held on Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1. This year our special guests include Australian luminaries Anna Bligh and Stan Grant. We have over 70 book traders, 50 authors speaking, 9 general entertainment acts, 8 educational acts (4 for kids and 4 for teens), various kids activities, an Exhibition in the old Wesley Bluestone focused on our theme, plus 90 minutes with ‘Newstead Tattoo Presents…’ and last, but not least, good food and books galore. It should be fun! Join us on Saturday 30 April & Sunday, 1 May. Only $10 entrance fee for a weekend pass, and this includes access to all author talks. It is superb value for money, and should be a great weekend for all.

Trader sites are specifically for books or related products and are now fully booked. Enquiries about sites for next year should be made to Jane Cox or Richard Mackay-Scollay via visitus@clunesbooktown.com.au

Our Artistic Director is responsible for programming speakers, author talks, performers, entertainers and biblio-artists. Ailsa will be considering expressions of interest for the 2017 Festival from Monday, 1st August 2016 through until Monday, 9th January 2017, if you would like to apply during that period. The 2017 Festival will be curated around a set theme and submissions will be considered within the context of their relevance to that theme, as well as in relation to quality, demographic needs and programming constraints.  The 2017 theme will be announced in late July 2016.

We strongly advise all guests intending to stay overnight to book their accommodation early, and/or consider staying in one of the many nearby villages…

If you have an interest in visiting Clunes throughout the year, consider planning to attend one of the Booktown on Sunday sessions. This is a series of writer talks which occurs on the third Sunday of each month at 2 pm in The Warehouse, Fraser St, Clunes.  This monthly event commenced again in March of this year.
