Mick King moved to Clunes 2010 after a long career in the Australian textiles and fashion industry. Starting as an assistant accountant in the Roger David business, Mick worked his way up to become the Chief Financial accountant, before joining a large textile manufacturing company, eventually becoming General Manager. He also ran his own successful textile manufacturing business for two decades, and owned two fashion retail outlets.
All the while, Mick’s keen interest in architecture saw him renovating and building many homes, nearly all of which have been celebrated in the interior design media.
Together with partner Robin Morrissey (also an active Booktown volunteer) Mick operated a highly successful small hotel in their Boom-style Victorian mansion in inner-city Melbourne for a decade before retiring and moving to Clunes. Mick has since been a volunteer at Booktown, counting the entry gate takings.
