Graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws, Neal first practised as a member of the Victorian Bar. After later taking up a partnership with a private law firm, he then transitioned to the pubic sector where over the course of the next three decades he worked within and across various Commonwealth and State investigative, prosecutorial and regulatory agencies. This included travelling both to England and the United States where, as a member of several joint multi-disciplinary task forces, he worked together with international law enforcement officers investigating matters of mutual interest. Neal’s most recent appointment was as Director, Legal with the State’s key independent anti-corruption oversight body, the Victorian Inspectorate. An enthusiastic Booktown volunteer, he is currently Vice-President of the Clunes Tourist and Development Association. Neal and his wife Gill relocated full-time to Clunes in 2017.
