Booktown Festival FAQs

FESTIVAL FAQs!

Q. Do I need a ticket to enter the Festival?

A. Yes. Your $10 adult, $5 secondary student (and kids go free). Tickets give you access to all book traders, live music, entertainers, the Kids' Village, food vans, and half of the talks across BOTH days of the Festival. For tickets to talks running in the Clunes Town Hall and Clunes Lending Library, you can purchase these separately for $10 adult, $5 secondary students here: https://www.trybooking.com/eventlist/booktown

Q. Can I buy my ticket when I arrive?

A. For quicker entry, purchase your ticket online now: https://www.trybooking.com/eventlist/booktown Otherwise you can purchase on arrival. Please bring cash. If you'd like to book into an author talk, we recommend doing so online now as they often sell out: https://www.trybooking.com/eventlist/booktown

Q. What time does the festival open and close?

A. Gates open at 8am on Saturday and stay open til late (i.e. you can dine in town without being 'locked in'). Gates open again on Sunday at 9am and activities wrap up approx 5pm Sunday.

Q. Do trains run to the festival?

A. Thanks to V/Line there are extra services running to Clunes Station over the weekend. Catch the train from Southern Cross > Ballarat > Clunes and return! Courtesy buses will take you from the Clunes Station to the festival precinct and back - or take the short walk. Timetable here: Train Timetable

Q. Can I bring my dog?

A. No. The Festival precinct is a pet-free zone.

Q. Where should I park?

A. The Clunes Showground is the 'official' festival carpark, with LOTS of space and courtesy buses to take you to and from the festival precinct (or you can take the short walk there).

Q. Is there disabled parking available?

A. Yes. You can find this at the corner of Service St and Fraser St, just across from the main Festival entrance.

Q. Is there an ATM?

A. We strongly recommend bringing cash. ATM services are limited - and often involve long queues.

Q. Are there book signings?

A. Visit the Readings marquee to buy books written by the main speakers. Author signings for most speakers will also occur there after each talk in the Town Hall and Free Lending Library.
